Prompt 1
If I were in their position, I would probably be happy with the fact I'm making money for my family, but I wouldn't be happy with the job itself. All a person would do is stand in one spot, and do the same thing repetitively all day. An example of a position in this job is standing in one spot and placing an empty can on the conveyor belt to be dealt with my another person. To all of the people working in there, that was really the only thing they had. If they lost that job, then they would be in a lot of trouble because that was their source of money for themselves and/or family. But the thing is, is that the employers didn't put any value on any of their workers, and thought that all of them were expendable and worthless. So if a person missed even one day, they would immediately be replaced by someone else, greatly affecting the life of the person they fired, for that was the only thing they had.
That's the kind of stuff I was thinking of. That boring, repetitive job would be the only thing I had, in their position. It makes me kind of sad to think about the employers not valuing the lives of the employees any more than the lives of the animals they process.

ReplyDeleteYou are right Sadie. It makes me wish that they had come to see that their workers are the building blocks to their success. They should have treated them for what they were worth. With out them the owners would be nothing.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Sadie, I probably be happy just to have a job. I wouldn't like the idea that it could be taken away at anytime. The employees should be treat for what they were worth, but I don't think the employers ever thought about it that way, they were just worried about their own lively hood.
ReplyDeleteAgreed that the workers would eventually become bored with their job because of the repetitiveness, but they would also be grateful for what they had too.

ReplyDeleteThey were happy to have jobs, any jobs that could provide for their families. There were no regulations back then so when you worked you were responsible for yourself. I you get hurt or sick, out you go.
